Most of the brides will ask a lot of help from you leading to their wedding day, from planning, getting them invitations, or just simple things like what flower fits for the occasion or flavors of the cake. Understanding how to be a maid of honor, the best thing you can do is assist with whatever you can help.
Although most brides tend to do the bulk of the responsibility, a helping will come a long way. So, make their life easier, you don’t want them to get all stressed out and overwhelmed with the planning and organizing.
Lead the Bridesmaids
One of your tasks as a maid of honor is leadership among your bridesmaids. Maid of honor is like the master of the bridesmaids, by directing everyone to get their sizes on, proper fittings, and all the essentials they need for the big day.

Attending Pre-Wedding Events
While a Maid of honor doesn’t necessarily do all the planning, it pays to be at the bride's side in all events they go regarding their wedding. Remember, it’s your duty to make your bride's life easier leading to the day, so pre-wedding events such as pictorial, going to church, wedding rehearsals, and all sorts, you should be there at all times. When the big day comes, see to it that everything is in place. From your bride’s car, gown, and all the makeup. Make sure that everything is doing good for her. At least give her all the things a bride would need leading towards the ceremony. But don’t forget about yourself! Get dressed and put your makeup on! Be glowing and always remember to watch over your bride before she walks down the aisle.
Keep Things Right on Time
During the big day, the maid of honor’s duty is to secure that the timeline of the events is taking place accordingly to plan. From the bride, wedding planner, and the bridesmaids. Every component of the wedding day must be followed.

Walk Down the Aisle
Savor the moment as you’ll be walking in first before everyone, along with the best man. Keep calm and do the walk until you are right next to your seat.
Arrange a Few Things
When the bride arrives, keep an eye on her train and veil, ensure that it’s not flying everywhere! Plus, keep the bride as calm as possible.
Sign the Marriage Contract as a Witness
After the ceremony is done, the newlyweds and the officiating person will sign the marriage license. In most cases, there should be two witnesses are required to sign the contract, the maid of honor and the best man.
Hold the Bouquet of the Bride
It is always the maid of honor’s duty to hold the bride's bouquet once they arrive at the altar. It has been a tradition, and just one of saying that you’re always there for the bride even if it’s after the wedding.
Being the chosen maid of honor is a gratifying and an honorable thing a bride can do to you. That’s why if you are the chosen one, it is important to know the basics of how to be a maid of honor.
For me, the best thing you can do for your bride is to assist her with everything, from wedding preparations, flower arrangements, the location of the receptions, and many more.
